A Remarkable Trend
The increasing use of invisible braces across the globe is a remarkable trend. At present rates, sales will exceed £4 billion by 2025, although the reasons are more important than the money.
Even in developed countries, a good percentage of people who could benefit from orthodontic care historically chose not to do so. They simply didn’t want to wear traditional braces.
Technological advances in production and dental imaging have brought alternatives which are as effective. Enabling patients to achieve ideal treatment outcomes, with braces which are hard to see.
A Range Of Options
The choice of invisible braces is not limited to one new idea. Fixed braces can now be made with tooth coloured, or clear brackets, removable aligners are equally transparent, lingual braces fit to the rear of your teeth.
Material science aimed at space travel, or IT systems has been adopted for orthodontics. Production methods such as 3D printing have also moved across, along with artificial intelligence to aid individual accuracy.
Whilst this may sound expensive, better methodology has decreased relative cost over time. Allowing access to a greater number of options, without payment being a substantial barrier.

Additional Benefits
We should mention that braces of all types have improved, traditional braces no longer look so incongruous, or offer other disadvantages. There are still areas where invisible braces have an edge.
Decalcification, or other damage to teeth is even less likely, as is inflamation. Oral hygiene is easier to maintain, especially with removable options, they may also be more comfortable to wear.
Computer aided design and production bring better personalisation, comfort aside, this can aid the speed and effect of treatment. People feeling happier about wearing braces will naturally do the same.
An issue we completely understand, in teenage years, or adulthood. Social interaction and self confidence can play a key part in life, or work.
Personal Choices
Increasing publicity and awareness have added to the growth of invisible braces, although they shouldn’t in themselves dictate choice.
